MacOS Mojave available for free download

MacOS Mojave the successor to High Sierra was introduced last June 4, 2018 and was publicly released on September 24, 2018.

Read on to check out what's new and where to download.

Here are the Top Features and changes it brings with version 10.14:

  • Dark mode - Environmental change to the over-all interface of the operating system where it will be easier for your eyes in dark environments. This is applicable to 3rd party applications as well. Eg. Answering emails in the middle of the night doesn't hurt your eyes. Don't ask! :P
  • Dynamic Desktop - Automatically change the desktop background wallpaper base on the time of the day and  particular location. I guess this will be better than watching paint (nail polish) dry. LOL
  • New Accent Colors - There are now a total of six accent colors under General in Settings. These colors influence around MacOS for the likes of a drop down arrow, radio buttons etc. It dynamically changes colors as soon as you select one.
  • Stacks - This is an organizational feature especially useful in cleaning up your desktop with just a couple of clicks. This can be organized in several ways By Kind, By Date and it will be grouped according to that. Any item is searchable when you scroll on top of the Stack. Just click to expand the items on the Stack.
  • Gallery View, Quick Action in Finder - Gallery View allows you for large previews of images or files in Finder. Apple must be thinking we have to much pictures and it will easier to search for one if we can inspect it in a big view. Good one Apple! Quick Actions allow you to rotate an image. It also allows you to create a group of photos to create a PDF file. Another handy feature is to view the full metadata of the file type.
  • Quick Look Enhancements - Allow you to change the orientation or invoke markup of an image. The button can be found in the upper right corner of the Quick look window. This significantly speeds up workflow without needing to open an app. Looking forward to that.
  • New Screenshot Utility - It has a new graphical interface to capturing the whole screen, by selecting an active window or by capturing a portion of the screen. This surely beats that three finger pressing just to screenshot. Screen recording is also available now in this app. It is possible to capture the whole screen or just a part of it.
  • Continuity Camera - a super handy feature to capture and share images between your Mac and iPhones. Simply activate it via right click on your desktop in your Mac then select your iPhone. The camera app on your iPhone will open. Snap a picture or scan a document then click on share on your iPhone. It will be automatically shared to your Mac. It's like having a portable scanner always with you.
  • Additional IOS exclusive apps - News, Stocks, Voice Memos and Home. With this inclusion it gives developers to target and create apps for both platforms. I'm hoping Adobe Photoshop is the first one to be full version compatible to both MacOS and IOS. The other apps are pretty self explanatory so I'll just mention the Home app. This app controls your lights, lock doors or turn on the Home Pod. This is applicable to devices that support the Apple Home kit framework.
  • Recent Apps in Dock - Similar to IOS 12 in an iPad Pro there is a recent apps section in the Dock. It can accommodate up to three apps and cycles out the old one when a new app is opened. If you don't like this new feature then you can disable it in Settings.
  • Redesign in the App Store - The new simple design accentuates to be better at letting you discovering Apps applicable to you. Very similar looking to the IOS App Store.
  • Privacy and Security - Apps now will need your permission to use the camera or microphone just like in IOS. There's also an enhanced prevention on digital fingerprinting in Safari. This means that tracking of what you Like or Share in Social Media sites need your permission first. Ever wondered why after traversing your Facebook timeline and going to YouTube you have a targeted advertisement related to makeup or something?
  • Favicons in Safari -  This displays website icons in tabs for easier identification. Don't know why it took Apple this long but Chrome browser has it for ages.
  •  Add Emoji in Mail app - A new button is added to quickly include Emojis in  your email. No more need to mess around with the keyboard settings.
  • Enhanced Siri requests - Siri is now able to control Homekit accessories upon your command. It is now also possible for Siri to display a stored password for a certain website. This opens Safari's password section after inputting the administrator password.
  • New Wallpapers - there are 25 wallpapers with MacOS Mojave including the two new dynamic wallpapers. As explained above these changes according to time and location.
  • New Software Update in System Preference - The gear icon similar in IOS is included in the System Preference to check for the Apple OS updates. There will be a numeric value on top of the gear icon if updates are available to download. No need to click the Apple logo then click Software Updates.

Upgrade path starts at OSX Lion or later. But...
You'll need a MacBook or iMac 2012 or newer and at least 4GB ram to get this free update running.

Will you be grabbing the MacOS Mojave? Let me know in the comments why or why not.
