Cory Aquino served as the 11th president of the Philippines from 1986 up to 1992. She was the first female president of the Philippines and first female president in Asia.
A wife to Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and a mother to Benigno Simeon Aquino III, Maria Elena A. Cruz, Aurora Corazon A. Abellada, Victoria Eliza A. Dee and Kristina Bernadette A. Yap (Kris Aquino).
Former President Aquino, 76 years of age was an icon of People Power I in the Philippines and around the world. She died at 3:18 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009.
